Asbestos Removal & Waste Collection

Greenacre always provides the safest methods and techniques in the removal of in-situ asbestos in buildings, structures, etc. right across the UK. We have an extensive range of asbestos related services addressing both the removal of licensed and non-licensed asbestos containing materials from various areas including construction-sites, rural areas, buildings (commercial, Council, Universities and residential) etc.

When commissioned to undertake asbestos-related work, then site visits are undertaken to consider both non-licensed and licensed removal. All activity then generates the creation of a Plan of Works, and certainly before any operative commences the works. Licensed asbestos removal works (which effectively is any work where the asbestos is not bound in a matrix) also (and always) generate a site visit. During this site visit, the full range of activity/locality specific hazards are considered before the commensurate risks are evaluated and documented – supported by all/any relevant photographs. A site and work-specific Plan of Works is then drafted and the HSE is notified (ASB5). The relevant legislation is the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 legislation, all asbestos works are carried out in controlled conditions as set out by this Statute.

All our staff have received and passed the UKATA Category C asbestos training, as well as any other training specific to the works – including site training. Any Licensed removal sites are managed by a supervisor stationed permanently on-site whose responsibilities are to monitor the general progress of works, manage the site team. In addition, their role also includes acting as both the Health & Safety representative and the contact point for emergency procedures & services.

The nature of asbestos and its public perception can generate certain elevated awareness/sensitivities; so, whilst the safety and wellbeing of our team is critical, it is also necessary to state that the public and the environment in which we all exist are our top priority. To mitigate these potential risk – and are articulated in all of the Risk Assessments. Basic public safety is mandated and exercised by means of Statutory signage as well as the philosophy of segregation – distance as well as scheduling works around shifts, etc. to avoid work interacting with people. To keep the operatives safe, personal protective equipment (PPE) and respiratory masks (RPE – the efficacy of which are tested regularly) are mandatory for everyone.

Waste collection and disposal services

It is not uncommon for people (occupationally/personally) to find asbestos – whether it has been there for years or fly-tipped). Greenacre can undertake waste collection from both these residential and business sites, providing the confidence that your asbestos waste will be disposed of in accordance with relevant legislation. Our waste carrier’s license is renewed every three years and as part of this renewal process, we undergo a rigorous review by the Environmental Agency.
